Timberframe carpenter / mass timber crew member

This is a crew-member role for someone who wants varied, hands-on work and the satisfaction of seeing a project through from fabrication to installation.

The work

What you'll do

  • Fabricate timberframe components using large portable saws, routers and other woodworking tools.
  • Operate stationary wood-processing equipment, including four-sided planers.
  • Prepare, coat and finish exposed timber components.
  • Install timberframes and heavy tongue-and-groove wall, floor and roof assemblies.
  • Work safely at height and participate in lifting and rigging.
  • Help your crew deliver the complete project to a high standard.
  • Depending on the project, assist with building-envelope installation and concrete forming.
  • Occasionally travel for installations, including rare remote or alpine projects.

The person

You may be a good fit if you

  • Carpentry, construction, woodworking or mechanical skills - or strong aptitude and a desire to learn.
  • Pride in accurate, high-quality work.
  • Reliability and accountability to the rest of your crew.
  • Comfort working at height, outdoors and in changing conditions.
  • The ability to safely perform physically demanding work.
  • An interest in learning both shop fabrication and field installation.
  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel occasionally.
